What You’ll Do on the Jobsite:


  • As a Plaster and Cement Mason, you will install and repair concrete structures and surfaces such as floors, driveways, sidewalks, retaining walls, foundations, dams, bridge decks, piers, bents, and abutments.
  • You will often work on decorative concrete projects, polishing and staining surfaces to create visually striking floors and countertops.
  • You will operate power trowels and utilize other concrete specialty tools such as screeds, floats, darbies, levels, and edgers.
  • You will apply protective coatings and waterproofing materials to their finished work, ensuring that surfaces are resistant to weather, moisture, and wear.

What You’ll Learn in the Apprenticeship Program:


  • As a Cement Finisher apprentice, you will learn the precise methods for mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete, ensuring that you can create strong, level surfaces for floors, sidewalks, and structural components.
  • You’ll learn the essential skills of preparing surfaces for plastering and cement work, including cleaning, applying bonding agents, and setting up forms, ensuring a smooth and durable finish.
  • You will learn to work with a variety of materials and become proficient in using specialized tools for troweling, smoothing, and finishing.
  • You will learn to read construction drawings and other technical documents.
  • You will receive thorough training on safety protocols and quality control measures, ensuring that your work meets industry standards and contributes to a safe work environment.
