What You’ll Do on the Jobsite:


  • As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing the framework that supports the walls, floors, and roof of a structure.
  • You will accurately measure and install doors, windows, and other fixtures, ensuring they fit perfectly and function smoothly.
  • You will build the forms that shape foundations, walls, and other concrete structures.
  • You will put the finishing touches on a project, from installing baseboards and crown molding to exterior siding and trim, enhancing the overall look of the building.
  • You can specialize in building scaffolding and other temporary structures needed during construction, ensuring safety and accessibility for other trades.
  • You can specialize in installing deep foundations by driving piles into the ground, creating a stable base that supports heavy structures such as bridges, skyscrapers, and offshore platforms.

What You’ll Learn in the Apprenticeship Program:


  • As a Carpenter apprentice, you'll learn the full range of carpentry skills, from framing and installing structures to finishing work, ensuring you're prepared for any task on the jobsite.
  • You will learn to read construction drawings and architectural plans to ensure work is being completed according to project specifications.
  • You will spend extensive time practicing with the tools of the trade—saws, hammers, levels, and more—under the guidance of experienced carpenters, mastering the techniques needed for high-quality work.
  • You will learn the specialized skills needed to install deep foundations, including driving piles made of steel, concrete, or wood into the ground to support large structures like bridges, buildings, and piers.
  • You will learn the latest safety practices and building codes, ensuring your work meets industry standards and helps maintain safe construction sites.
